Our Parish

Mar Thoma Church located in Fords, NJ, catering to all marthomites in the central New Jersey area. We follow the syrian episcopalian format.

Our church is located on Hamilton & Hoy Avenues in Fords, NJ.

St. Stephens Mar Thoma Church, established in 2000 is one of the parishes under the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church of India. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church has its roots in the ancient church in India believed to have been established by the apostle St Thomas in AD 52.

Rearing the next generation in a Christian atmosphere from their early childhood.
Retaining them on firm Christian faith through the subsequent stages of youth, parenthood and old age.
Addressing the pressing needs of the poor and the downtrodden people
Encouraging members to lead a life bearing witness to Christian teachings good enough for people belonging to other denominations to emulate for the common good of the society.

The Mar Thoma Church Logo

The logo of the Mar Thoma Church combines four sacred symbols: a cross, a wheel (chakra), a hand lamp and a lotus. The cross symbolizes the fact that Christ is at the center of the Church and its mission, and in the heart of the cross is a wheel (Ashoka Chakra), the emblem of India, symbolizing life. To the left of the cross is a hand lamp, an illustration of the Church’s motto, "Lighted to Lighten." On the right, is a lotus, the traditional Indian symbol of holy living.
